I have enough of this fabric to sew the dress, but maybe it would look better in something else, since technically that's a quilter's cotton, and rather an odd print for a dress. I not too fond of that fabric much, either. Right now I'm thinking a solid color dress-weight cotton. In green, or perhaps a nectarine or brown. I'm such a wimp when it comes to clothing - I'm sure this would be really cute in a large, bright print, but I'm too scared to try it.
Ah, well. We'll see. Any suggestions?

ReplyDeleteActually, I think you could get away with a large pink pattern very nicely, just make sure it is more like this,

I can't wait to see it! I really need to find more time to sew, but i'm saving for a DSLR, so there isn't much extra money for fabric anyway. :-(

Well, I'm actually getting two of the same pattern, one from Ebay and one from Etsy. It's a long story, but I'll be putting one up on Etsy, I think. Marian Martin is an old mail order brand, if that was your question. My guess is that they had catalogs they ordered from.
ReplyDeleteOh, I like that first fabric! A camera is a great thing to be saving for - I am too! I just don't know what kind, yet. What kind are you looking at?
After thinking about it more, I might just make a dress in the quilter's fabric, first. If I like it, great, I don't need to buy more fabric! If not, well, I can garden in it or cut it into an apron or something, and make one out of a different fabric.

I like how you say "nectarine" fabric. Such a pretty color. I think this would be a great choice.
